Summary:
The Library Director works with the Board of Trustees to provide the vision for the library and staff in accordance with the Library’s Mission Statement. Is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operation of the library. Creates, implements, and evaluates programs and services. Manages personnel including, hiring, training, development, supervision, and performance evaluation. Essential attributes include high energy, enthusiasm, personal integrity and ability to inspire community support. Reports to the Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities:
Works with the Board of Trustees to provide the vision for the Library and the staff in accordance with the Library’s Mission Statement. Serves as key spokesperson for the Library to larger library professional community including active involvement at the local, state, and national level. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public officials, civic and community groups and the general public. Plan and direct a balanced program of library service to all residents of White Sulphur Springs and the surrounding communities. Evaluate the effectiveness of library services in relation to the changing needs of the community. Formulate and recommend to the Board of Trustees new policies and changes in existing policies. Implement and monitor present and future policies approved by the Board of Trustees. Initiate planning for current and future activities. Work closely with the Board to create the budget for the library. Manage day to day finances and report to the board regularly concerning the finances. Oversee day-to-day operation of the library. Maintain awareness of trends in the field and develop programs so that the Library takes advantage of new services and products to provide enhanced services. Report monthly to the Board of Trustees on the operation of the library and keep Trustees informed regarding the Library’s program of service. Oversee the library’s technology and its development. Oversee personnel policies and ensure that policies are correctly implemented. Review performance evaluations of staff members. Work with Friends of the Library.
Qualifications:
Minimum acceptable qualifications are High school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of 18 hours college credits or a degree. Experience in libraries preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Experience working with the public a must.
8.50 per hour 75% of healthcare plan paid.
