| Desc: I have to give up my Golden. Circumstances have arisen that make it impossibly for me to keep him. He is the love of my life and I will miss him terribly, but I have no choice.
Three years old, approximately. Gorgeous golden fur and big brown eyes. Beautiful shape for the breed. Looks like a show dog when his ears perk up. Fully vaccinated, just done in February. Neutered. Comes with a host of supplies such as food, dishes, crate, leash, lead, toys, treats, Gentle Leader head collar, sonic antibark, bed, and anything else I can find that belongs to him.
He has had some rudimentary training but he is very intelligent. Just needs someone with some time and patience that can help him refine what he knows. Very, very loving boy. Likes to lay at your feet, cuddle next to you on the couch or in bed, wants to be all over you if you sit down next to him. Just today I had him at the park and sat to watch my kids swing. All 80lbs of him climbed into my lap and curled right up. He really still thinks he is a 10lb puppy. He plays like a puppy, he acts like one of my kids and he still wants you to hold him like a puppy. He is nondestructive: doesn't chew shoes, furniture, the house. He has never pottied in the house and knows how to ask to go out - doesn't even bark, just gives you this look and makes a weird whiney growl noise. Doesn't dig in or out side. The only time we have had anything close to an accident is when he was sick to his stomach and threw up in the house. Even then, it was always by the sliding patio doors into the backyard.. even in that condition, he knew that he was supposed to go outside, there just wasn't time to get there.
Speaking of kids, he is great with them. He is very tolerant of a lot of "abuse". My kids could hug him, kiss his face, squeeze him, climb over him, lay on him.. he has such a sweet temperment. He loved to play with my son. He would bring a rope to my son to play a game of Tug and if he won, he would tease my son with the rope, bringing it to him and yanking it away right as my son was about to grab it. His only problem is the whole thinking he is still a puppy... he forgets how big he is compared to a couple of preschoolers.
He is great with other dogs. We have taken him to Goodale, Franklin, and Schiller parks downtown and let him run around loose. He runs up, makes the basic introduction to another dog, gets bored and continues on. Leashed, he does not bark at other dogs or even pay much attn to them. When we are walking and another dog goes by, he might glance at it and then just keep going. I believe he thinks he is human.. he doesn't see other dogs as being like him, so he is calm with them. He chases squirrels and has chase cats, so I have no idea how he would be with other animals. I just know that having a playmate would probably be his wildest dream.
He is good with most people. He will sometimes bark or give a low growl when there are strangers near the house (not in public). He is no guard dog, but it always made me feel more comfortable. He loves attention and loves people to pet him. Kids always want to pet him at the park, so I sit him down and he sits patiently while all the little hands poke and pet him. He loves his people, too.. more than anything, he just wants to be by your side. He loves to lay next to the couch at our feet, on the couch with his head in our laps, at the bottom of the bed, stretched out on the floor with a kid laying on him. Anywhere, as long as he is with his people. He is crazy for car rides, too., and he knows right where his seat is.
He has some quirks, like anyone.. he goes crazy around parks. (1) When we pull up to a park, he just about goes nuts in anticipation. It takes a while for him to settle down, even once we are out of the car. He weaves back and forth at the end of the leash trying to sniff everything! He also does this funny little dance when the kids run ahead of him. (2) He eats toilet paper and napkins, paper towels or anything similar he can get his mouth on. It has made him sick, but he gets over it in a couple of days. He has been sick twice in the last year from eating too much toilet paper. (3) He hates going outside alone. I think this goes back to him thinking he is a human. He will go outdoors with anyone, but if we let him out to potty and close the door, he is back at it as soon as he can be, scratching to be let in. This is not just once in awhile, this is everytime he is out. He is not one of those dogs that goes out and hangs out in the yard. He wants to be with YOU.
I could go on and on for days. He really is a super dog and it breaks my heart to give him up. I am asking for a rehoming fee of $300. This amount is negotiable to a good home, though we are trying to recover some of our initial investment. He has been well taken care of, from all natural foods to regular bath and Furminator treatments. If you think you can give my baby boy a good home, please call me.
