| Desc: The Lakeside Music School offers a wide range of educational experiences
for students interested in learning about music. Lessons are offered on guitar(electric & acoustic), bass, piano, trumpet, violin, vocal, and percussion (drum wide range of musical styles, custom tailored for what the student is most older. Lessons will include instruction in musical theory, rhythm, technique, performance, composition, and overall competency on the instrument.
The Lakeside Music School also offers year round recitals, giving each student the opportunity to experience the performance setting. Also, each student will have the opportunity to record their progress at least once every year. Lessons at the Lakeside Music School are priced at $25.00 every half hour, or $40.00 per hour. Lessons are usually conducted four times a month, once per week; however, arrangements can be made if the student requires a different type of schedule.

Guitar/Bass/Piano/Trumpet/Violin/Vocals- Maria Staump
Maria has a degree in music, is an ASCAP member, and is a member of
the National Association for Music Education. She has studied privately
with renown guitarists Fred Benedetti and George Svoboda. She released
her first album "Mi Vida Bonita," earlier this year, and has been touring
throughout California, performing at venues such as, the "Whisky A GO
GO," the "San Diego County Fair", and other various venues in downtown
San Diego and East County. Maria and her husband Tim have also put together a band known as "The Maria Staump Band". The band consists of Maria Staump on vocals and rhythm guitar, her husband Tim Staump on drums, Dan Scott on bass, and Joel Tuttle on lead guitar. All the music performed by the band was written by Maria. The music that is created by the Maria Staump Band is a blend of different styles: rock, blues, Latin, punk, country, hip hop, folk, and alternative. In addition to composing and performing, Maria also teaches full time. She currently has over thirty students each week that range in age from three to sixty years old. She primarily teaches piano and guitar, however, she does offer bass,trumpet, and violin lessons as well. She is proudly self employed as an independent musician.
Drums - Tim Staump
Tim Staump is a musician and visionary entrepreneur working in the music industry. A percussionist since age ten, Tim has studied from musicians like James Morton, Kirk Hoffmen, Tyler Dempsey, Mark Schulman, and Zoro the drummer. His inspiration comes from drummers like Buddy Rich, Dave Weckle, Jeff Hamilton, Carter Beauford, Zoro, and Steve Gadd just to name a few, Throughout his musical career, he has played for various orchestras, big bands, and drum corps. In addition, he has been a part of bands ranging anywhere from rock, to country, to hip hop. Currently, Tim is also endorsed by Vic Firth as an educator in their private drum teacher
program, as well as their scholastic educators program. The private drum teachers program is designed for percussion educators who teach in a private setting, this program is geared to support further growth in percussive studies and product knowledge. The Vic Firth scholastic educators program is designed for scholastic percussion educators whose schools have established successful programs both in their region and nationally. Tim has taught musicians ranging in ages from 5 years to 70 years and he has been a drum instructor for several different
junior highs and high schools throughout California.
Bass/Sax
Dan Scott is an accomplished musician having experience on both saxophone and bass guitar. In elementary school Dan participated in several fine arts ensembles such as the First Lutheran Church of El Cajon's Children's Choir, Hand Bell ensemble, and the Youth Drama Department. Dan continued to develop his musical interests and abilities in middle school, where he played alto, tenor, and baritone sax for Tierra Del Sol Middle School. In high school, Dan was involved in the West Hills High School concert band, marching band, and jazz band, where he again performed on saxophone. He also performed bass guitar with the West Hills drum line. With primary mentorship on bass guitar from Richard Welty, Dan's primary instrument has become the bass. He has now been playing bass for eight years, and continues to play saxophone with overt welve years experience. Dan has played with several different musicians and bands over the years such as Tim and Maria Staump, Joel Tuttle, Jake Skulnick, Matt Rodela, The Maria Staump Band, FortyoneSixty, and Pushwater. Currently, Dan plays bass for both The Maria Staump Band and FortyoneSixty. Both bands gig on a regular basis, and are continuously working on new music, both originals and covers. The Maria Staump Band is also working on their first album together scheduled to begin recording in 2009. With these bands, Dan had performed at venues such as the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, the San Diego County Fair, the annual Rock the Gaslamp show in downtown San Diego, Channel Twelve25 in El Cajon, various private parties/charity events, and Cain's. Dan Scott has also started teaching both on bass guitar and saxophone. He offers lessons through the Lakeside Musical School. Dan approaches his lessons with influences from great musician's such as Pink Floyd, Sublime, Green Day, The Offspring, Dave Matthews Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, Les Claypool, Primus, and many more. All lessons will include instruction on technique, music theory, and overall competency on your
musical instrument.
Guitar/ Mandolin - Joel Tuttle
Joel Tuttle is an accomplished guitarist of eight years. He has studied with Greg Douglass, Rod Ratelle, Gary Tuttle, and Fred Benedetti. Joel's musical experience began at a young age where he played clarinet and trombone in the Bernardo Heights Middle School ensemble. Joel has also participated in the Grossmont Community College Guitar Ensemble where he performed on guitar and bass. Joel's primary musical influences are Freddie King, BB King, Albert King, Eric Clapton, Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins, Pink Floyd, Beatles, John Fahey, Leo Kottke, and Jimi Hendrix. Joel has experience performing with musicians and bands such as Fred Benedetti, Gary Tuttle, Silverwood, Cobblestone, and the Maria Staump Band. Joel is currently playing with the Maria Staump Band as the lead guitarist. The Maria Staump Band performs gigs regularly, and plays both originals and covers. Throughout 2008, Joel has performed at shows such as Rock the Gaslamp in downtown San Diego, Channel Twelve25, the San Diego County Fair, and at various private parties/charity events. The Maria Staump Band is also scheduled to start record their first album together beginning in 2009. Joel has taught privately for six years
both out of his home studio and at Garrett Band Instruments in Lemon Grove. Joel now offers lessons at the Lakeside Music school on both guitar and mandolin. Lessons will include theory, technique, composition, and overall competency on your instrument of choice.
