Hi~
My name is Carol and I hope to give you peace-of-mind when you leave your child in my care. There are lots of people advertising to be childcare providers, and I want to tell you the reasons why I feel I have the highest qualifications.
1. I love babies. I have raised two of my own who are now 23 and 26 and turned out to be terrific adults...hopefully you can meet them and discover this for yourself :)
2. I have always made sure there are babies in my life. It started years ago when I became a 'lap parent' at the local hospital (some programs also call them called 'cuddlers'). I volunteered to hold sick and premature babies in the neo-natal unit so they could experience the warmth of human contact when the nurses or parents were unavailable.
3. I have been a foster parent for babies the past 7 years. After an extensive training program, I've experienced the joy of fostering five babies (I'd love to show you the pictures!) One little boy lived with us for two years.
4. Because of the nature of foster parenting, there are strict backgound checks which are performed. I have been screened by the FBI, the DMV, and CPS (child protective services). I will be happy to show you the paperwork.
5. I am a loving and compassionate person. For this reason I have also volunteered my time to work in the Mary Washington Hospice program, and also the Rappahannock Big Brother Big Sister program.
6. I come from a strong, close-knit family...my parents have been together for more than 50 years. I myself have been happily married to my husband Dave for 28 years. He has recently retired and is often available to help me with childcare (you get two for the price of one!)
7. I have been trained in CPR and basic first aid. I was initially trained in these areas when I was a flight attendant...the safety of our passengers was our primary focus. In more recent years I have stayed current due to fostering.
8. My home is pet-free and smoke-free.
9. I'm college educated. I went to the University of Massachusetts and received my degree in Art Education. I became qualified to teach kindergarten through eighth grade.
10. We have all the baby paraphernalia you can imagine: crib, changing table , stroller, high chair, car seat, toys, Baby Einstein CD's, boppies, swing, jolly jumper, monitor, etc, etc. So it won't be necessary for you to bring a lot of things when you drop off your child.
11. My home is conveniently located near Spotsylvania Towne Center and Central Park (River Bluffs Subdivision). I'm available to do part-time, hourly (drop-in), and temporary full-time. If you just need a few hours to go shopping, I'm here. If you need holiday or overnight care, I'm here for that too.
12. I will only care for one infant at a time. I know that you have the option of using a daycare center, but if you want your child to have one-on-one TLC, and if you don't want him/her near sick children, I think you can see the advantages of my home.
I know how hard it is to find a caregiver who is mature, loving, dependable, and trustworthy. I hope you will consider contacting me so we can talk and meet each other...I would like to have the opportunity to get to know you and your child.
Thanks for your time...hope to hear from you soon!
Carol
